Summer 2009 at Savio

Returning to Savio College a day after school was over, I noticed a very quiet ambience. In fact, the only sound to be heard was the away humdrum of everyday life in the quiet Dingli village. But sumer would change all this. Savio College was lit and packed with hundreds of teenagers, at times rowdy, but certainly all the time very lively.. This event-packed summer helped me mature and improve my talents and also my character. The first summer camps were first in the summer calendar. Savio was filled with about 350 teenagers living together in separate camps. There were four camps for boys – Bosco, Savio, Magone and Sports Camp, and one for girls – Vicuna. Thanks to Fr.Louis Grech and Mrs.Mariel Gauci and their team of animators, us teenagers shared a wholesome experience where we laughed together, we played together, we ate together and most importantly grown together in relationship with ourselves and with God.

But the main hit of the summer was without question BOSCOFEST. Over 300 youngsters participated in the fourth edition of Boscofest. We used to meet every Saturday to rehearse together and we also had live-ins to finish off our work. But the main thing isn’t the final act. With Boscofest, each participant grew in relationship with God and each improved his talents. We were one big family and everyone got to know each other very well. We were seperated into groups and each group was brilliant! The groups were: Orchestra, Drama English, Drama Maltese, Dance & Gymnastics and Mimes & Impressions. We laughed together, we grew together, we cried together and with the guidance of Fr.Louis Grech and over 80 animators, we pulled off something awesome! In fact, over 3000 people came and enjoyed a quite fantastic show. We all look forward to another edition of Boscofest. My only wonder is how better can it be. It is already fabulous enough!!!!
