HDS and Gospa. 1st Meeting- 1st October 2016

The first meetings for the various HDS and Gopsa groups was held on Saturday 1st October 2016. The Forms 1,2 and 3 met at 10am-1pm. A group of 120 boys attended the morning meetings. Then at 4pm the HDS Form 4 and 5 and the Gospa group attended for the meetings. The girls group is growing from one meeting to another. A big well done to all those involved in the preparation of these meetings. 


Come and See Freshers week 2016

A group of 10 young men participated in the first come and see week of the year. It was a special moment for all those in formation. Br Kenneth Micallef, Br Clint Rizzo, Br Johan Bugeja, Br Julian Schembri, Rapheal Axisa, Antoine Galea, Matthew Alfino all took part. They were joined with three young men who are experiencing community life for a week every month. We wish them all well. Fr Eric Cachia, Fr Jesmond Apap, Fr Guido Errico and Fr Ivo Coelho (general Councillor for Formation) all gave their unique contribution during the week.

On the 8th September 2016, Johan Bugeja, Clint Rizzo and Julian Schembri made their first profession in Turin. Congratulations. We promise them our prayers.


‘On the Footsteps of Don Bosco VII’

‘On the Footsteps of Don Bosco VII’, was held between September 2nd and 9th. This bi/annual pilgrimage to Turin, led by Fr Eric Cachia, led the participants to meet Don Bosco more closely than usual. The itinerary focused both on the historical and charismatic dimension of our founder and the Salesian Congregation. The 22 pilgrims came from the Salesian Oratory in Sliema, from Savio College and also from Gozo. The dates and the formative program were set to conclude with the first religious profession of Bros.


Br Paul Spiteri renews his vows. 2nd September 2016

On Friday 2nd September 2016, Br Paul Spiteri renewed his vows in the Sliema Oratory Church. It was a beautiful occasion. We thank Br Paul for his work at the Sliema Oratory over the past two years and wish him all the best as he embarks on a new adventure. On the 17th September Br Paul will be joining Br Jake Mamo in Turin for three years of theological studies. 


Perpetual Profession- Br Kenneth Micallef sdb

August 27th was a great, solemn and memorable day for Bro. Kenneth Micallef when kneeling in front of the Altar, with a strong and clear voice, he pronounced his vows in perpetuity in front of a huge crowd made up of a good number of confreres, the Parish Priest, family members, young people from the two Oratories of Sliema and Dingli, benefactors and many many friends and parishioners. The ceremony took place at the Parish of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven in Dingli. Fr. Paul Formosa, Provincial Delegate, received the vows and Fr.


First Mass - Fr Robert Falzon sdb - 19th August 2016

On the 19th August Fr Robert Falzon sdb celebrated his first solemnn Mass in his hometown Parish Church at Mosta. Before the mass he was accompanied by the Salesian Brigade Band from the Mosta Oratory to the parish church. The mass was animated by the Salesian Worship Team (Sliema Oratory) and the Gozitan choir led by Dorienne Portelli. Ad multos annos, Fr. Robert!


Farewell Br Jake Mamo

The Salesian Animators organised a surprise farwell party for Br Jake. The party was held on the 26th August 2016. It was an opportunity for all the animators to thank Br Jake for his hard work over the past two years. We wish him all the best as he starts a new phase in his formation. On the 17th September 2016 Br Jake will be joining Br Paul Spiteri for Theology in Turn. 


Formation live-in for Salesian Animators 2016

The 5-9th August was a great conclusion to a great summer 2016. A formation live-in was held for the Salesian animators who were instrumental in the success of this years summer camps. Fr Eric Cachia and SPYS (Louis Debono, Mark and Bettina Duca, Luca Cacciattolo and Karen Bugeja) were among the speakers invited. The week started on Saturday 6th at 4pm with a Lectio Divina.

On the 5th August 2016, 350 young people came for a day of Fun and games at Savio College. In theme with the "Year of Mercy," the funday started at 4pm with a Penitential service. Various young people made most the opportunity and went to confession.
